Base Owner

Captain Alan Bossenger is owner of both St. Augustine Sailing and SailTime Northeast Florida. Alan was a member of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club in New Jersey while at Johnson & Johnson for 20 years. His brother owns the California Yacht Sales brokerage and also SailTime San Diego. When Alan retired, he wanted to find a place to live that had character, which was close to boats and sailing, and had beautiful sailing waters with inlet access. When he found St. Augustine, Florida, he did not have to look any further!Alan is a USCG licensed Captain as well as a certified American Sailing Association Instructor.

CarolCarol Ellis
Base Manager

Carol grew up beachside on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. After years of travel and work in business management, historic St. Augustine has been a welcome waterfront home. Carol has experience in the marine industry from Administrator to Marina Manager, and maintains close ties to our local marine trade organizations. Certified in ASA 101, Carol has also owned power and is content just to be on, around or in the water!

Captain Rick Gardner Captain Rick Gardner

A Myrtle Beach, SC native, Captain Rick moved to St. Augustine in 2002. While living in Myrtle Beach he owned successful water sports businesses that offered parasailing, sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking. Rick is a USCG licensed Captain as well as a certified American Sailing Association Instructor. He is very active in local sailing programs and can often be found sailing and kayaking with his three sons on the waters of St. Augustine.

Chuck has sailed Asia, Europe and a variety of different sailing environments from Lake Superior to the South China Sea.
*In 2007, his ASA students rated him an ASA Outstanding Instructor! Chuck is a licensed Captain as well as a certified American Sailing Association Instructor.

Captain Mihai CoseraneauCaptain Mihai Cosereanu

Mihai started sailing an Optimist and raced extensively on the Baltic, Black and Adriatic seas, holding an FD class junior national title in his native Romania. He has been an ASA certified Instructor for the past ten years teaching sailing in New York, Coral Gables and St. Augustine. Mihai held the position of Sailing Director for the Great Neck Park District and Mahasset Bay Yacht Club . Presently, he is also a USCG licensed Captain and an ASA certified Instructor. * Mihai was voted an ASA ‘Outstanding Instructor of the year’ for 2010 – by his students!

KimCaptain Kim Walther

Kim has sailed much of the Eastern Coast from Maine to the Bahamas and Virgin Islands. She holds a USCG Captains license with sailing and towing addendums and is an ASA certified Instructor.  She enjoys all types of sailing equally – whether teaching, racing, cruising, or deliveries.

 

GaryCaptain Gary White

Gary grew up sailing on Lake Superior. He retired to Jacksonville, Florida, after years in computer service with Honeywell. Gary has taught sailing for many years, and presently captains private charters with St. Augustine Sailing.

 

BillCaptain Bill Nesbitt

Bill started sailing on the Jersey shore at the age of eleven sailing Woodpussys, Lightnings and Jet 14s. Bill has considerable experience ocean racing and charter fishing. Captain Bill has had his United States Coast Guard (USCG) license for over twenty years and flew search and rescue for the USCG as well.
