NAVIGATING THE WAVES

Anchors aweigh! St. Augustine Sailing proudly unveils its maiden voyage into the world of racing with the eagerly anticipated Ladybug Race Event, set to unfurl its sails on April 28, 2024. This isn’t just any race; it’s a celebration of community spirit and a nod to the empowerment of women in sailing through the Women On the Water (WOW!) program. And while the event may spotlight women, it warmly welcomes participants of all genders.

Prepare to be swept away on a nautical adventure as the Ladybug Event promises a day brimming with excitement for sailors and sailing enthusiasts alike. Dockside at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor and Marina, attendees will be treated to a mesmerizing Mini Boat Show, showcasing a fleet of Jeanneau Sun Odyssey models ranging from 35’ to 44’, alongside the elegant Lagoon 40. From 9 AM to 5 PM, guests can explore these vessels and engage in other of on-dock activities.

WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS, & INSTRUCTION

But the real treasure lies in the lineup of workshops and seminars set to unfurl throughout the day. Covering topics as diverse as marine weather forecasting to winch maintenance, cruising essentials to the art of writing and publishing while at sea, these sessions will be led by esteemed speakers including Chris Parker, John Gaughan, and Behan Grifford. For those eager to feel the wind in their sails, an Intro to Sailing course will be offered at various intervals during the day.

RACE, VIP SPECTATOR, AWARDS DINNER

The Main Event will be the Ladybug Race itself, featuring both performance and cruiser class racing. A special category awaits the All Female Crews, vying for the prestigious Ladybug Trophy. “We’re thrilled to host the Ladybug Race Event and support the Women on the Water program,” expressed Toste Muniz, Office Manager at St. Augustine Sailing. “This event embodies our commitment to fostering community involvement and promoting inclusivity in sailing.”
