Living the Sailing Dream: 20 Years of SailTime Northeast Florida

For twenty years, SailTime Northeast Florida has helped people turn the idea of sailing into a lived experience. What began as a way to make sailing more accessible has grown into a vibrant community where learning, confidence, and connection come together on the water.

At the heart of SailTime Northeast Florida is a simple belief: sailing dreams shouldn’t have to wait. Many people imagine themselves sailing someday, yet years can pass before they feel ready to own a boat or take on the responsibility alone. SailTime bridges that gap, offering immediate access to sailing while providing education, mentorship, and a supportive community.

Video Description

SailTime Northeast Florida operates as part of the St. Augustine Sailing Club, a community built on decades of experience, education, and a shared love for life on the water.

St. Augustine Sailing has been serving sailors for over 40 years, celebrating four decades of operation in August 2025. In February 2026, SailTime Northeast Florida proudly marks 20 years as an established SailTime base location, helping make the sailing lifestyle accessible to individuals, couples, and families throughout Florida’s First Coast.

Together, St. Augustine Sailing and SailTime Northeast Florida create a seamless pathway for sailors — from first exposure and formal instruction, to lifestyle sailing, continued education, and eventual boat ownership. Rooted in a culture of patience, respect, and community, this partnership has supported generations of sailors as they gain confidence, skills, and meaningful connections on the water.

This video celebrates the people, partnerships, and shared vision that continue to shape SailTime Northeast Florida and the St. Augustine Sailing Club — honoring the past while looking forward to many more years of sailing, learning, and adventure ahead.

From Curiosity to Confidence

Members often arrive with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Some are brand new to sailing, while others have past experience but limited recent time on the water. Through SailTime’s membership model, they gain consistent access to well-maintained boats and the opportunity to practice regularly. Over time, that repetition builds confidence.

What makes the experience unique in Northeast Florida is the environment itself. Sailors can quickly reach the open ocean, yet always have the option of protected river and Intracoastal Waterway sailing. This allows members to grow naturally, taking small steps as their skills progress. Navigation becomes second nature as sailors learn to work with tides, inlets, and intersecting marker systems.

Learning That Goes Beyond the Basics

Education is deeply woven into the SailTime experience. Through St. Augustine Sailing, an American Sailing Association–affiliated school, members and the public alike can pursue instruction at every level. Classes serve individuals, couples, and families, and are supported by instructors known for their patience, kindness, and commitment to helping students succeed.

Learning doesn’t stop with certifications. Many members continue with private instruction, advanced skills training, and practical application aboard the SailTime fleet. The focus is always on meeting sailors where they are and helping them move forward at a pace that feels comfortable and empowering.

A Pathway to Ownership and Beyond

One of the most rewarding moments for the SailTime Northeast Florida team is watching members take the next step. Some begin skippering boats confidently on their own, while others set their sights on longer destinations such as Amelia Island or Cumberland Island. For those with Classic memberships, these adventures provide a taste of extended cruising while still benefiting from the flexibility of the Intracoastal Waterway.

As the Northeast Florida Jeanneau dealer through All Points Yacht Sales, SailTime offers members something truly special: access to modern sailing yachts similar to those they may one day own. Sailing newer Jeanneau models allows members to become familiar with contemporary systems, layouts, and performance. For some, the journey comes full circle when they choose to place their own vessel into the SailTime fleet, gaining experience and support before sailing off on independent adventures.

More Than Sailing — A Community

SailTime Northeast Florida is as much about people as it is about boats. The base is located at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor and Marina, St. Augustine’s premier marina, offering a protected, welcoming environment supported by full-service amenities. Members appreciate the convenience, safety, and sense of belonging that comes from having everything they need in one place.

Community comes alive through shared experiences and events. Each year, SailTime hosts social and educational gatherings, including the annual Ladybug Event. This multi-day celebration brings together sailors, instructors, and industry experts for workshops, seminars, demonstrations, and on-the-water activities. In partnership with St. Augustine Sailing, All Points Yacht Sales, and the Seven Seas Cruising Association, the event reflects SailTime’s commitment to inclusivity, education, and connection.

Sailing Forward

As SailTime Northeast Florida celebrates its 20th anniversary, the focus remains firmly on the future. Thoughtful growth, strong community ties, and expanding access to sailing continue to guide every decision. Whether someone is stepping aboard for the first time or preparing for life as a boat owner, SailTime Northeast Florida exists to support the journey.

For countless members over the past two decades, sailing has moved from a distant dream to a meaningful part of daily life. And for those just beginning, the horizon is wide open.
