St Augustine has a long and distinguished sailing tradition going all the way back to the 16th century. So it’s no surprise that some of today’s most dedicated sailing enthusiast have decided to drop anchor here.

St Augustine Sailing, which offers private luxury sailing charters and sailing lessons, has not just one, two, or three family members involved in the business. There are seven of them working together.

The Women on the Water program from St. Augustine Sailing is designed to be flexible and fit every woman’s sailing journey, according to a media release from the luxury sailing experience company. The program is held every weekend throughout the year, with each month focusing on a different aspect of sailing. Topics are modified to fit every level of experience, so everyone from novices to experienced sailors are welcome to join.

Rose Ann Points had never so much as stepped a Sperry onto a sailboat when she and her then husband made the bold decision in 1996 to uproot their comfortable family life in Oregon and travel the Caribbean aboard their own vessel.

As the owner of St. Augustine Sailing, Captain Rose Ann Points manages the company’s various member clubs, the local SailTime franchise, American Sailing Association School, and the new and used boat sales brokerage. She established Women on the Water (WOW) to enhance the lives of women through education, practical application and access to sailing vessels, and to develop skills to sail with confidence.
