The Inaugural Ladybug Race Will Host Expert Speakers on Sailing

This spring, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, St. Augustine Sailing invites you to the inaugural Ladybug Race, where the sailing community from near and far will come together to celebrate all things sailing. So much more than a sailing competition, the event will feature workshops, yacht tours and sales, and an awards dinner to celebrate race winners. It’s for every boater, whether you’re a seasoned captain or admirer from the shore. Ladybug Race day’s educational workshops and seminars will be hosted by seasoned sailing instructors and experts, focusing on an array of informative topics for both novices and accomplished sailors, including diesel engine care, weather forecasting, living aboard, and much more.

Deborah Marlor, sailing life coach, will host Sailing in Comfort, offering essential knowledge for living a comfortable lifestyle while full-time cruising. Behan Gifford, expert speaker and cruising mentor, discusses Becoming a Cruiser, sharing invaluable insights and tips on transitioning into life at sea. Melanie Sunshine Neale, author of the novel Boat Girl, will host Sailor’s Pen: Navigating Writing and Publishing Abroad, sharing her unique perspective on writing and publishing while at sea. Jennifer Mouhalis, nutritionist, will host two sessions about mastering food and nutrition aboard. Provisioning: List to Last Bite will guide you through planning the needed provisions for every journey. Eating Well Aboard will focus on how to maintain a nutritious diet while on the water. Jourdan Mckenzie, Owner of McKenzie Marine, will share the technological breakthroughs shaping marine navigation in Navigating the Future: Marine Electronics. Heather Lalonde, seasoned yoga instructor, will host Staying Ship Shape, teaching how to maintain your well-being and balance amidst the sway of the sea. Ceal Potts, boat evaluation expert and owner of Set Sail Marine Survey, will explain why a marine survey is a must in Smooth Sailing: The Importance of Marine Surveys in Boat Buying. Marianne Davis will speak about What’s In Your Medical Kit. Kim Walther, named “Outstanding Instructor” by ASA, will teach the mastery of managing Dinghy & Outboard. Rose Ann Points, St. Augustine Sailing co-owner, captain, and instructor, will cover Social Media, Website, and Blogging from the high seas.
