Certified ASA sailing courses starting at only $395!

Since 1985, St. Augustine Sailing in Florida has taught thousands of students the basics of sailing. From
basic to advanced courses, we can help you achieve your on-the-water goals! Located in Florida, St. Augustine Sailing is a member of the Sunsail Sailing School network, which is a collection of schools approved by the worldwide charter operator, Sunsail. With this affiliation, bareboating yachts in exotic locales is as easy as a phone call.

At St. Augustine Sailing school, classes are full with 4 students; you will never share a class with more than three others. Any class may be scheduled with as few as two people, so if at least two enroll together, you may generally set your own dates. Private instruction is available at the cost of boat charter plus Captain/Instructor time. Call for more information on custom instruction.

Our Instructors are Professional and Personable, with much sailing and teaching time on the water. Our Captain/Instructor Chuck Points has been named an ASA Outstanding Instructor for 2007, earned from student ratings.

RESCHEDULE FEE: Class schedules are based on student sign-up confirmation.  Rescheduling a class date will incur a rescheduling fee of $50 per person.  This does not apply to rescheduling associated with weather. CANCELLATION:  All fees are non-refundable.
NOTE: No accommodations or provisions are included. When looking for accommodations for the duration of your class, our students receive a 15% discount at our harbor's Camachee Inn. http://www.camacheeinn.com - our classes are held from 9 to 5 each day. There are two excellent restaurants in our harbor - Waterside Market at 904-824-0900 and Kingfish Grille at www.KingfishGrill.com

Historic St. Augustine, Florida, is an ideal place to learn to sail. Our marina is located on the Intracoastal Waterway just a short distance from the St. Augustine inlet so we have both river sailing (Tolomato and Matanzas) and the Atlantic Ocean within minutes of our docks. Our students experience most of the conditions they will experience in actual coastal conditions: tidal currents in inlets and rivers, using channel markers and buoys, anchoring in situations of wind and current and many others. Few locations have such a variety of sailing conditions so nearby.

We are lucky enough to be able to sail all year long! Our winters average in the 60's and often the low 70's - balmy weather for most of our out-of-state students...

ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Certification
(2 days - $395 per person)

Our ASA 101 course puts you on an exciting and sporty J-24 keelboat, to learn the basics of what sailing's all about. You can learn to sail with our home study materials and our 2-day on-the-water sailing class. When you sign up for our Basic Sailing course, you will receive the ASA textbook Sailing Fundamentals, and an official ASA Log Book. You will be encouraged to study certain parts of the textbook prior to coming for your on-the-water sailing classes.

When you arrive in St. Augustine, Florida, for your class, you will spend two full days on a J-24 sloop, acquiring hands-on experience under the tutelage of a US Coast Guard-licensed captain and ASA certified instructor. There will be no more than four students on your boat, and each will take turns performing all of the necessary functions to operate the boat. At the end of the second day of your sailing class, you will take the test required for the US Sailing ASA certification. When you pass the test, the instructor will certify in your Log Book that you have passed the Basic Keelboat Sailing course.
